Screenwriting

Tony has an M.A. in Film from San Francisco State University.  His career began when he sold a script while still in film school, and parlayed that into getting his first agent.

Tony was given the Christopher Award and Paul Selvin Award by the Writers Guild of America for Invictus, as well as being a NAACP Image Award nominee.  He was also given the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival Spotlight Award in 2016.

His first credit was The Assassin with Steve Railsback, when he was given three weeks to write a script to be shot in Mexico that could include lots of guns and cars, a couple of small hand grenades and a helicopter for one afternoon of shooting.  Fun!

As is usual in Hollywood, many more scripts were written, rewritten or doctored than made.  But some were made.

Highlights include credits for Don’t Say A Word with Michael Douglas and Brittany Murphy, Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law and Invictus with Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon.

Uncredited work of note was the final draft of The Book of Eli, with Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis.
